    Description

This is a lithograph picture of General "Mad Anthony" Wayne on Jan. 10, 1781, confronting mutineers of the Pennsylvania Regiments of the Continental Line, in an incident during the negotiations over the Articles of Confederation. Continental soldiers had been suborned by British spies, and rose up to march on Philadelphia. General Wayne confronted them, and with General Washington's help was able to convince them to stand down. Two ringleaders and two British spies were hanged. This is a lithograph showing Wayne and a single officer stopping the men. It was probably done in the 1850's. This is an original, on fine paper, 9 by 6 inches. There is some minor foxing, and a stain of light mold on the reverse, but otherwise being excellent, with no folds, or creases.
